This letter is also called "the SLA letter."  The Zodiac Killer was known to have a fixation on newspapers, which involved avidly reading the papers, frequently writing the papers, and at sunset of his activity as "the Zodiac Killer," was STILL taking opportunities to draw attention to other events involving newspaper moguls. This letter was written 10 days after Patty Hearst was abducted and subsequently assumed to be brainwashed by the SLA. Therefore, some researchers dispute the validity of this letter as being written by the Zodiac, however, none can dispute that the context of the letter still fits a motive that we would see based on past known behavior expressed by the Zodiac's obsession with the media. This mixed with yet another current event such as the SLA's involvement and movements at the time, can certainly contribute to some validity as being from the Zodiac.
