Our Suspect
Our Zodiac Killer suspect's name is Loring Dale Hill. He was 35 years old in 1969 and was stationed at NAS Alameda as an Aviation Structural Mechanic aboard the USS Enterprise in the Vietnam conflict.

This picture was taken in the City of Barcelona, Spain, while on a Mediterranean cruise between 1959-1960 aboard the USS Saratoga. He was 25 years old in this picture. He was a member of the HU-2 Helicopter Rescue Unit.



Me - Boot Camp
Loring, or "LD", enlisted in the United States Navy in the early 1950s and quickly chose Naval Aviation as a specialty, serving in Korean, Cuban Missle Crisis, Bay of Pigs, and the Vietnam War. His father served in the Navy in WWII, and he is one of five Hill sons who served the military. He's from rural central Ohio and was stationed at NAS Beeville, Texas, NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island, NAS Lakehurst, New Jersey, NAS Kingsville, Texas, NAS Corpus Christi, Texas, NAS Whidbey Island, and NAS Alameda, California, and wrapped up his 20 year career back in Corpus Christi, Texas until 1973, then joined the Fleet Reserve until finally retiring in 1974. He served on the USS Saratoga, port in Florida in 1959-1960, aboard USS Essex, based in Lakehurst New Jersey from 1960-1962, trained for deployment from 1965-1967, and served three Vietnam tours aboard the USS Enterprise out of NAS Alameda from 1968-1969.
